Teamwork Takes Team Players.
At Brightsquid, we believe that healthcare gets better when we all work together — and the same is true for success in sport (which also supports health). That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Jude Johnson, a dedicated field lacrosse goalie who’s hoping to represent Team Alberta at the 2025 U17 Alumni Cup in Halifax.
Jude’s path as an athlete reflects the same values that drive our work in healthcare: collaboration, communication, and a shared commitment to helping people reach their full potential.
Representing Alberta with Pride and Purpose
Jude describes the opportunity to play for Team Alberta as an “amazing” feeling — a chance to show the rest of the country that Alberta is a serious competitor in field lacrosse and the strength of specialized teammates working in collaboration.
But for Jude, it’s about more than winning games. As a goalie, he sees himself as the “quarterback of the defense,” responsible for calling out plays, organizing teammates, and helping everyone stay focused and confident. It’s a leadership role that requires communication, awareness, and trust — just like a privacy officer or clinic lead guiding a coordinated healthcare team.
And just like a capable Privacy Officer is always learning, Jude is always training, developing his skills and knowledge of the game.
Teamwork and Specialization: Every Role Matters
Field lacrosse is a fast, strategic game with a high degree of specialization. Each position — from attackers to midfielders to defenders and goalies — has unique responsibilities, and success only comes when everyone plays their part and supports the team.
Jude explains, “Even though each player has a role, we all have to work together to move the ball and finish plays.” It’s a perfect parallel to team-based care in healthcare, where all members of a patient’s care team each bring specialized expertise — and rely on clear communication to achieve the best outcomes for patients. It’s the reason Brightsquid Secure-Mail connects everyone for information exchange in one place.
Supporting Ambition Through Training and Mentorship
Jude has been playing lacrosse for nearly 11 years. He trains four times a week outside of provincial team practice — lifting weights, running footwork drills, and improving agility to get in front of the ball more quickly. That level of dedication, paired with guidance from coaches who push them to grow, reflects the type of discipline we see in healthcare professionals committed to continual quality improvement and patient-focused care.
Currently a red shirt for the U17 team, Jude is training hard to earn a full roster spot for the upcoming tournament in Halifax. His motivation comes from family, teammates, and big goals: playing at the college and professional levels.
At Brightsquid, we see this kind of personal ambition and team-supported growth every day in healthcare. Whether it’s a family physician helping a patient manage chronic illness or a care team coordinating treatment for recovery, people reach their best outcomes when they’re supported by a high-functioning team. It’s a big reason why we’ve included privacy training in every subscription, knowledge supports excellence.
Brightsquid’s Commitment to Teamwork in Healthcare
Just like Jude is driven to strengthen his team and prevent opponents from scoring. Brightsquid exists to strengthen communication and prevent breaches in healthcare. Our Secure-Mail platform helps providers collaborate easily and securely across clinics, disciplines, and communities, ensuring everyone involved in a patient’s care can stay aligned and the confidentiality of data remains intact.
Just like a goalie helps coordinate the defense and anticipate the next play, Brightsquid helps healthcare teams stay ahead of the curve, improving outcomes through fast, secure information sharing.
Helping Jude, Helping Patients — Building a Better Future Together
Sponsoring Jude isn’t just about supporting a talented athlete — it’s about investing in leadership, discipline, and teamwork. It’s a reflection of our broader mission: to empower teamwork in organizations and systems that help others live their best lives.
As Jude trains toward the Halifax tournament and chases his goals, we’re proud to play a small part in his success. Because when we support each other, when we play our roles with purpose, and when we communicate clearly and consistently, amazing things happen — in sport, in healthcare, and in life.
Let’s All Cheer on Jude and Team Alberta!
Stay tuned for updates from the U17 Alumni Tournament, and join us in wishing Jude the best as he trains, competes, and leads with heart and determination. Because at Brightsquid, we believe that teamwork makes everything stronger — from patient care to championship games.
