This year, the\u00a0Psychologists’ Association of Alberta<\/a>\u00a0took steps to improve patient care and mental health outcomes by improving the way clinicians and patients communicate. The tool they chose was\u00a0Brightsquid Secure-Mail<\/a>, an innovative email like communication service that protects patient privacy while delivering greater access to care, improving treatment adherence, and creating significant efficiency in the healthcare system. Dr. Judi Malone, CEO, was looking for something specific in their search. \u201cThe Psychologists’ Association of Alberta is always looking for ways to improve patient care, through a variety of initiatives, including technology. We knew that the use of secure email between patients and providers was more beneficial, but prior to Brightsquid, there was not an email service that complied with privacy regulations and allowed for remote consultation directly with patients. Brightsquid Secure Mail solved this problem.\u201d \u201cWe have learned, across all health services, that adding Brightsquid Secure-Mail to patient care, increases access to clinicians, reducing wait times, and most importantly, improving patient understanding of clinical recommendations, which results in better health outcomes\u201d says Rohit Joshi, CEO of Brightsquid. \u201cOur goal is to implement Brightsquid Secure Mail across all healthcare services in Alberta in order to connect all members of each patient\u2019s care team. Better availability of information in the coordination of care saves lives. Continued reliance on fax machines and the postal services poses a danger to Albertans.
